A group of BHS Students have formed the Equity and Diversity Alliance (E.D.A.) and will be holding their first event on November 8th. Please read a message from the E.D.A. group:
Dear Bedford Public School Community,
On Friday, November 8th, the Equity and Diversity Alliance (E.D.A.) at Bedford High School
invites teachers, families, and students of the Bedford school community to a book drive event
in the back cafeteria at Bedford High School from 6-7:30 p.m.
Families are asked to bring in new or gently used books. At the event, high school volunteers
will be hosting story time and simple crafts for children, while parents can help with the book
drive. Children are encouraged to dress up as a character from their favorite book. If you
cannot make it to our event, there is still a way for you to donate books. Simply bring them in
to the main office at any Bedford Public School by November 11th, 2019.
We will be sending these books to a nonprofit social enterprise called More Than Words. Their
mission is to empower young adults who are in the foster care system, are homeless, or out of
school to take charge of their lives by running a business. More than Words accepts gently used
donations of paperback and hardcover books, CDs and DVDs in their original cases, records, and
video games. Books can be any genre as well as world language books. They also gladly accept
textbooks, but do ask they be 10 years or newer. The books and materials that we donate will
be sent to the store located in Boston. Books can be sold in their pop up shops, online
marketplace, and wholesale business location.
The E.D.A is a Bedford High School student run group that was formed to unite our
communities and promote inclusion and diversity which supports our district and school
improvement goals. Please join us for the first of many Bedford School Community building
